Morton Primary School
Morton Primary School provides education for 4-11 year olds and is currently oversubscribed with 99 children on roll. 75% of our pupils live in the village with the rest coming from surrounding villages.
After a long history as a school, the original building dates back to the late 1800’s but was added to with a modern extension in 2010 creating four good sized learning spaces for our pupils. In addition we have a multi-purpose Hall/Dining area and a large school playing field.
The Head teacher joined the school in 2011 and is supported by her team of five qualified teachers, two of which work full time with our five qualified teaching assistants. Additionally the Head has a 40% teaching commitment. Children are taught in mixed age classes.
Our aim is to encourage children to “Be the Best You Can Be” and we provide many creative learning opportunities for the children involving community members, families, visits, topics, the church and other schools ensuring the children gain a range of experiences which contribute to their knowledge and skill development.
With a strong family ethos, our children are regularly complimented on their good behaviour and respect, their independence and willingness to learn showing their love of school, reflected in our high attendance figures.
In January 2017 we were judged by Ofsted as a good school and our results are continuing to improve, challenged and supported by our Governing Board who is actively involved in school life.
We have a strong mission statement “Learning Together, Laughing Together and Achieving Together” ensuring that we know each individual child and their families well.
We are a small, popular school with a big attitude and are known for our sporting achievements, quality of work and talented and confident pupils with a determination to succeed.
We look forward to showing the work of our school through our website.
