We are a Year 4 class. We are Class 3 or ‘The Hardworking Hedgehogs’. Mrs Travis is our teacher and Ms Thurman.

PE is on Wednesday and Friday afternoons, so your child will need to wear their kit on these days.

Please make sure your child has a named water bottle that they bring to school every day. It is really important that children stay hydrated during the school day.

Homework Expectations

Every week the children are set spelling and times table homework linked to work being covered in class. It is set on a Monday and spellings and times tables are tested the following Monday.

It would be really beneficial if the children practised their times tables as frequently as possible. By the end of Year 4 all children should be able to recall all the facts up to 12x12 in any order, fluently without counting on their fingers! The current Year 4 children will have to take a statutory government set times table test at the end of Year 4 in 2021.

The children should also read to an adult five times a week. On a Monday morning I collect in Homework Diaries to check that the children have read to an adult.  The children should be heard at least twice a week in school, once individually and once in a guided group. An adult should sign the homework diary to show that the reading homework has been completed. The children are currently collecting raffle tickets when they complete a book and will be entered into a prize draw to earn a book token to spend at the Book Fair in the Autumn and Summer terms.

If you have any questions or worries about homework or anything school related please come and see me either before or after school or email me info@morton.derbyshire.sch.uk

We love to share our class stories with you via the app Class Dojo. If you already have the app, it should be working. If you need a code to log in please ask for one.

We will be working with the Bolsover Partnership to learn some multi-skills on Wednesdays.
