Science at Morton

A high quality science education provides the foundations for understanding the world through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics.

At Morton we ensure that all pupils build up a body of key knowledge and concepts, pupils will be encouraged to recognise the power of rational explanation and develop a sense of excitement and curiosity about natural phenomena.

We provide a creative approach to the science curriculum. This ensures our pupils develop their scientific knowledge and understanding, have an understanding of nature, processes and methods of science and to understand the scientific knowledge required to understand the uses and implications of science today and for the future.

We allow our children to build up extended specialist vocabulary and use skills acquired from maths to collect, present and analyse data.

Our children are encouraged to be curious and ask questions about what they notice.

We teach most of our science through a variety of STEM Projects that cover Biological, Chemical, Environmental and Physical Sciences. We will also cover some other science topics through lessons that are not covered within the STEM Projects to ensure our children are given a full coverage of Science from the National Curriculum.
